Animal Alphabet
Animal Alphabet
Animal Alphabet is a children’s book that I both wrote and illustrated. Inspired by my nephew, the project began as a series of animal illustrations designed to engage young children through playful forms and bright, inviting color palettes. To make the work distinctly my own, I incorporated my signature line work into each animal and its surrounding environment, creating a cohesive visual style across the collection.
As the number of illustrations grew, I began exploring how they could live together in a more intentional format. This led to the development of Animal Alphabet as a children’s book. When selecting typography, I found that existing typefaces did not align with the aesthetic of the illustrations. In response, I illustrated a custom alphabet, integrating the same line work and color sensibilities used throughout the artwork to maintain visual consistency.
The book was completed and self-published in 2022. In addition to the book, the Animal Alphabet project expanded into related products, including children’s posters, bibs, apparel and stickers, allowing the illustrations to extend beyond the page into everyday use.
