Christ Church LA
Christ Church LA is a Los Angeles–based church committed to cultivating authentic relationships, serving as Christ served, and loving as Christ loved. I worked with CCLA as their Social Media Manager, overseeing the strategy, creation, and publishing of all social media content, with a primary focus on Instagram.
At the outset of the project, capturing the church’s authentic voice presented a challenge, as I had not yet experienced the community in person. To address this, CCLA flew me to Los Angeles for a week-long immersion, allowing me to spend time in the surrounding neighborhood, engage with church members, and observe the culture and rhythms of the congregation firsthand.
During this time, I captured over 500 photographs, editing content daily and immediately applying insights into active design drafts. I met regularly with the Assistant Pastor throughout the week to review concepts, refine messaging, and align visual direction. Through this collaborative process, I developed a professional yet welcoming tone of voice that reflected the heart of CCLA.
To strengthen local connection and authenticity, I incorporated imagery drawn directly from the neighborhood—using both original photography and custom illustrations derived from those photographs—so that members of the local community could recognize familiar visual elements. For visual variety and balance, I paired photographic content with designs utilizing CCLA’s established brand colors.
