I was commissioned to write a feature newsletter for Roam To Be Wild, a travel and retreat brand centered on immersive, nature-based experiences. The piece, “Swim With the Song of the Ocean,” was written to evoke emotional connection, wonder, and a sense of invitation—guiding readers into the experience of swimming with humpback whales in French Polynesia.

Through lyrical storytelling and sensory language, the newsletter captures the intimacy of encountering whales in their natural environment while educating readers on the diverse behaviors they may witness, from singing and breaching to maternal bonding and underwater movement. The writing balances poetic reflection with informative structure, helping readers visualize the retreat while feeling personally called into the experience.

In addition to highlighting the Polynesian retreats, the piece weaves in other offerings—including Shark Week in Bimini and an Ocean Safari in Baja—creating a cohesive narrative of ocean stewardship, adventure, and personal growth. The final newsletter was designed to inspire trust, curiosity, and courage in readers considering a transformative journey into the wild.
